About ProjectPATH

In 2010, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) partnered with Preservation Pennsylvania (the Commonwealth's only statewide, private non-profit, membership organization dedicated to the protection of historically and architecturally significant properties) to create the Project for Pennsylvania Transportation and Heritage (ProjectPATH).

If you choose to participate as an interested individual or consulting party on a transportation project, you may be contacted by a PennDOT District Cultural Resource Professional regarding a new online posting.

If you have questions about using ProjectPATH or participating as an interested individual or a project consulting party, you can contact us via email at

Some ProjectPATH History

ProjectPATH was conceived in 2009 as a tool for public involvement and public education for Heritage Resource Management issues and efforts at PennDOT. The system was originally developed and mananged by a team of professionals from Preservation Pennsylvania, PennDOT and private IT developers.

Michael C. Ross, The Michael C. Ross Corporation and Manda Shafer, Creative Midtown, LLC. were the primary system and website subcontractors. Benjamin Harvey, PennDOT Intern 2010, assisted with website content development. Planning for system upgrades and improvements was guided by a management committee of PennDOT Cultural Resources staff, staff from the PHMC and Preservation Pa, and a representative from the Pennsylvania Archaeological Council.  The system was originally maintained and managed by Jennifer Horn at Preservation Pennsylvania.

In March of 2015, the system was migrated to servers at PennDOT, and is currently maintained and managed by the Department's IT staff.
