Kris Thompson

Supervisory Architectural Historian and District 5-0 CRP
(610) 871-4459
Kris Thompson spent sixteen years in the Northeast and New England working in preservation advocacy, Section 106 compliance, education/outreach, and archaeology for governmental and non-profit agencies. In 2008, she returned to the Lehigh Valley to become PennDOT’s historic structures cultural resources specialist for northeastern Pennsylvania. Kris received her Associates’ degree in architecture from Spring Garden College in Philadelphia before deciding she preferred preserving historic structures over designing new ones. She finished her Bachelors’ degree in historic preservation at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, and later got her MA in archaeology from the University of Connecticut. She spends her time away from PennDOT dragging her husband and two kids to state parks, museums and historic sites around Pennsylvania and the greater Northeast/New England region. She became PennDOT's Supervisory Historian in 2019.
