Scott Shaffer is a Historic Preservation Specialist for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, serving all districts within the Commonwealth while targeting the north-central region. Scott graduated from Kent State University in 1989 attaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and the University of Memphis in 1992 attaining a Master of Arts degree in Applied Anthropology/Public Archaeology. His archaeological experience includes pre-contact and historic period investigations in thirteen states including US territories. Scott’s current areas of interest include Native American consultation, contact and historic period archaeology, acculturation processes, and farmstead archaeology.
